Our BOOK The Life of a Village continues to sell well. Copies are still available at Arun's Post Office. Think of buying another copy to give to a friend as a present for Christmas..it is a good read. .
The theme of the book, nearly 150 pages long and full of photographs, is the record of people’s
lives in the village over a period of change from the late 19th century to the present day- a change
from a small farming village to a community of almost 4000 on the southern edge of the city of
Nottingham.
Some 30 Edwaltonians past and present tell their stories of living, bringing up families, of
growing up, working and praying together, of their friendships and belonging; these are all
woven into a tapestry for us and our children and grandchildren to share and enjoy.
The book is a major part of the Edwalton Heritage Project 2007-9,funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
In a recent review in the Nottinghamshire Historian, Robert Howard wrote 'This is a history to be read much like a Sunday newspaper, in front of the fire with a cup of tea and a bun....a good, comforting local history, which should be enjoyed for what it is'.
The book is now priced at £8.00 and can be purchased at Edwalton Post Office, |
